It takes a huge amount of courage to step out the front door for the first time.
As one does it more and more, the amount of courage required diminishes, to the point that it becomes ‘almost’ negligible…. but maybe it becomes subconscious.
I’d guess that there’s still a lot of subconscious stress involved in the act of stepping out, and this is what is surfacing and causing the urge to ‘bottle it’ on the door threshold sometimes.
